Nickel Etching

Nickel is an extremely useful metal due to its high resistance to heat and corrosion, making it a popular choice when developing a variety of materials. At Qualitetch, we are able to use both Nickel and Nickel Silver for whatever applications you require.

Due to the strength and resistance of Nickel, the metal is used in a variety of industries, commonly as a protective outer coating for softer metals. Very few things are made out of pure nickel as it is used primarily as a stabiliser.

Even the most intricate of designs are possible with our cost-efficient and eminently accurate Photo Chemical Etching. The material comes out of the process both burr and stress-free, retaining all of its essential properties.

Following the finalisation of the design, we clean the raw material nickel and coat the sheet with a UV sensitive photo-resist, before then printing your required profile directly onto the resist covered sheet. After this, the material is then passed through a chemical bath solution of ferric chloride, which is used as our etchant. This process works equally well for both soft and hard metals, which then etches away and cuts out your desired profile.

Any trace of photo-resist and chemicals are removed once the process has been finished. The parts are then approved by our team of QA technicians.

We are able to offer our customers a quick and efficient turnaround with an incredibly high level of accuracy. If you are interested in more information on the photo chemical etching process of nickel, please contact the Qualitetch team on 01354 658787.
